My historical investigation allowed me to research prior to my Rwanda visit, and reflect on my experience after I came back. If i am honest, writing this essay was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do because I was so passionate about it that I felt anything I typed would not be good enough. (I still think that!)
However it is not so much about the mark I get it, it is about what I learn't and how I changed as an individual along the way. This assignment has been one of my favourite assignments ever because It allowed me to research and investigate my passion.
Today, i still see the people of Rwanda in everything i do and I will continue to for the rest of my life. They remind me to appreciate the little things and work hard at school and all areas of life. When talking to survivors of the genocide and victims families, if is so hard yet so inspiring. They are the most hopeful and hardworking individuals I have ever met, and have little hatred towards the International community for abandonment during the genocide.
Therefore if there is one thing I hope to leave you with, it is to never sit by and watch injustice occur but stand up and stop it. And also something I learn't from the people in Rwanda is to never have resentfulness to enemies and to love everyone despite issues/mistakes in the past.
